MICHELLE THOMPSON

EVERYTHING

“Michelle’s work combines found materials (books, magazines, packaging, photographs, postcards and other printed ephemera) with painted, drawn and printed elements. Her work alludes to shared memory - cutting-up and re-assembling images from recent history, to reflect contemporary themes and popular culture.

She works using a combination of traditional collage techniques and digital technology.”

  • The artist wanted the prints to be true to her iconic and instantly recognisable 'cut-up and re-paste' style.

Made up of only 2 colours - they wanted the opacity to work in such a way that a third colour be created from the overlaying of blue and red.

Many little interactions of imagery make up the overall narrative of the piece. Maintaining this detail was key to the success of the outcome, we used a very small high-frequency halftone to keep the integrity of the images.

The illustration reads like a story with many little complex interplaying images playing out over the full surface of the print.

NARRATIVE.

The print later went on to feature in the Creative Review publication

PUBLISHED.
